Recently, I posted about our Q&A times with students at teen camps and retreats. (one way in church, another way at home, dad on the internet) How do you avoid wrong influences when you live with them? How do you take a stand with your friends/what do you do when you have a friend that is becoming rebellious? How do you separate from bad friends without hurting them or making them think you’re stuck up? These questions reveal a lot of real life issues and a strong desire to know “why” or “how.” As adults, we ignore this list to our own detriment.While you can't predict the future, you can make choices that will help guide you to relationships that are both exciting and honoring to God. As you think through potential dates, ask yourself these questions: 1. "Don't judge a book by its cover." That's how the old saying goes. (For instance: You value good grades and plan to attend college; your potential date regularly cuts classes and has no plans for life after graduation.) Do they have decent standards when it comes to the movies and TV shows they watch? True, first impressions aren't totally accurate. But until you get to know a person, you must depend on first impressions. Are they committed, growing Christians who seek to live what they believe? If they've been in a serious dating relationship before, did they flirt with others or cheat on the person they were dating?
